TIFF 2022 Red Carpet Soundbites – Pearl

[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is a TIff 2022 red carpet. Soundbite of me speaking with director Ty west about Pearl. So how did Covid affect the development. [00:00:09] Speaker C: Of Pearl, both in terms of the plot and the back to back schedule of X? [00:00:13] Speaker B: Well, we were going to New Zealand to make x because there was no Covid in New Zealand at the time. And so it was a safe place to make a movie. And it made sense to stay there and make two movies. And that's what started the conversation about what if we made two movies? And that evolved into Pearl? And Pearl takes place in 1918, which happened to be during the spanish flu. And so it paralleled the times uniquely. And so it was one of those strange circumstances that came together out of a worldwide, stressful issue. And we made the best of it, and we tried to make some great films out of it. Thanks.
